Light matters
One of my favourite hand-held macro images of 2011 sat in Cyprus with my sister-in-law at breakfast……“hey Linda don’t move”. I grab a camera and macro lens, elbows on the table compose the frame as in the centre of her colourful eye is the reflected view of the mediterranean landscape.
Notice the patio and bench, the Cypriot stone archway, the green landscape and lapis sea horizon you can just see my unavoidable reflection off centre. This is one single RAW image processed in Lightroom. It is both a joyous and sad image for me as dear Linda left this world far too early. As you can see working with special light can produce a special image.

YOU DON’T TAKE A PHOTOGRAPH YOU MAKE IT
Harness the ability to scan a scene then visualise something a bit different to tell your story. A lot of the time I shoot in manual mode for the autonomous control that I prefer. That said if you use aperture control and allow the camera to decide ISO and shutter speed this can allow you more time to capture the moment. More on that if you decide to join me on a workshop.

REFLECTING ON A REFLECTION
Without tripod, walking waterside, an almost windless day. Generally my sea and landscape style is travel light-shoothandheld. My body is a tripod with elbows in, a staggered stance, compose, breathe-out, shoot.
